We created a place for new and for long-time friends that will leave its mark on your heart, long after you depart.
The name, like everything about the experience, was carefully chosen as La Locanda agli Amici. In English this means “the friends’ Inn.”
Set on top of a hill in a quiet area just outside the walls of Cortona, Locanda agli Amici has 7 rooms equipped with all the comforts of home. Each is unique in style and size but all reflect an ambience of friendship and coziness, providing guests an opportunity to spend quality time together, as a couple or as a group.
The panoramic views of the valley below Cortona (the “Valdichiana”) and the surrounding hills of nearby Umbria and Lake Trasimeno will greet guests from the windows of many of our guest rooms. These views are yours to discover each morning and evening as beautiful artwork on your walls. For all of our guests, the glimpses of the Tuscan landscape from our common areas - the breakfast room, our terrace and our swimming pool will simply take your breath away.
These shared amenities are the finishing touches that create an atmosphere of true friendship, where each guest is the center of our attention and feels totally “at home.”
The breakfast service is an important “pampering” provided for our friends. With the arrival of warm weather, breakfast will move from the panoramic views of our inside breakfast room to our terraces overlooking the beauty of Tuscany & Umbria.

Welcome to Bistrot agli Amici, a place where taste and tradition come alive as everyone becomes “amici”, friends. The Bistrot provides a perfect picture window to the Cortona valley below and the panoramic terraces offer a place for hours of reflection.
In this beautiful setting, we proudly offer you, our “friends” new and old, our personal take on a fusion of the traditional Tuscan cuisine elevated by our passion for inclusiveness, merging past and present, creating a menu with an emphasis on good and genuine ingredients in updated, but authentic, dishes.
The bistrot opened its doors in December 2024 with Silvia at the helm of the Bistrot, part of the superb hotel Locanda Agli Amici or Inn of Friends, which she transformed and opened in April 2023. A Cortona native, Silvia is a veteran of all types of five star hospitality in hotels, villas and restaurant. The Bistrot, like the Locanda, allows her to be her own enthusiastic interpreter and muse, providing the purest hospitality.
Silvia is now joined by Chef Denise, the beating heart of the kitchen, reigning over her undisputed kingdom of sauces with special and personal recipes learned from her ancestors and honed through decades of work in kitchens all over Italy. Denise and Silvia partner to create Bistrot menus born from their constant dialogue and questions asked every day to highlight cuisine that represents the best and most authentic dishes that Tuscany and Italy have to offer.

Welcome to the Locanda, where you will discover much more than just a cooking school.
Our aim is to immerse you in an authentic Tuscan cooking experience, involving not only our personal passion but also the natural beauty of the place, the terroir and unique raw materials all set within the enchantment of an open window onto the Valdichiana. Our professionally equipped kitchen will support the emotions you will feel once you put your hands to pasta.
Upon request, we can provide an iron and ironing board, a baby package (crib/cot, bottle warmer and bottle, sterilizer, high chair, changing table, play mat, toys & books, small bathtub for bathing) and a pet package (pet bed, bowl, toys).
Locanda agli Amici is located just a few steps from the center of Cortona, which can be reached on foot along a quiet and panoramic road.
Take the A1 Florence/Rome motorway, use the Valdichiana exit; continue on the Siena/Perugia expressway (Perugia direction) and then take the Cortona exit. Once in Camucia, continue towards Cortona center (centro) and continue on the SP 34 towards Piazza Mazzini. Follow the signs for the Sanctuary of Santa Margherita.
The Locanda is a 2-minute drive from Piazza Mazzini and before you reach Santa Margherita church.
